“I am in love Himself”

The other day, while traveling, Randall and I were listening to the audiobook “The Great Divorce” by CS Lewis. One of the characters was having a conversation regarding the love of God and her statement was, “I am in love Himself”!

That statement struck me with profound realness. Most of my life I have made the statement, “I am so in love with God” but never had I thought about that truth; God IS love so I am not in love with God, I am in HIM! 1 John 4:16 (CEB) says, “We have known and have believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who remain in love remain in God and God remains in them!”

Now this may seem trivial, a rather tit-for-tat in wording, but let’s take a moment and really think about this. If we truly understand that God IS love and we are IN Him, then our struggles to remain in His love melt away. The truth about Him BEING love swallows up our striving to be in love WITH Him!

Romans 8:38 says, “I am convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord; not death or life, not present things or future things, not powers or height or depth, or any other thing that is created.” He loves you! Nothing can change that! YOU can’t change that! What a perfect week for this newsletter to reach you. Easter, the celebration of the fulfillment of God’s redeeming love for mankind. Our prayer for each of you this Easter season is that you fully understand the reality of being in love Himself and that simple truth will redeem your thoughts and striving to remain in His love.
